I began capturing images on film at the age of 15 when taking my very first photography class in high school with my dad's old Ricoh camera. As a mama to 4 now, the art of photography means so much more. It's about capturing the essence of your family in the moments of your lives that matter most. Those sweet interactions worthy of becoming breathtaking works of art. I am able to bring that mother's touch & experience, while walking through these same stages of life.

For our newborn clients, we have all the wraps, props and outfits in studio! We'll get your vision from our questionnaire but your biggest job is to sit back and relax while you grow a human! We've got this!
For all other sessions, If picking out outfits for photos takes you back to high school days when you tried on everything in your closet but still felt like you had nothing to wear, you're in luck.
We'll put together a style suggestion guide with tips for every member of the family (even Fido!) with shoppable links to make it easy peasy. We have colour profiles and pinterest boards for inspiration and can even help match up items you already have in your closet.

For newborns, Once baby arrives you'll shoot off a quick text or email to let us now that baby is safe and sound. We'll then schedule you into the studio weekdays at 10:30am within the first 2 weeks of life.
For all other portraits, we'll connect a day or two before the shoot to confirm our location and last details. On the day of your session, we'll make sure the weather still looks like it's going to cooperate. We'll exchange numbers and finalize our meeting location. Please plan for your session to take about one to two hours from start to finish. Outdoor sessions take place at golden hour.

All images from our sessions are typically delivered within about one to two weeks of the shoot date via an online gallery. This gallery will allow you to choose your favourites for final edits and/or print orders. We will schedule and in-person or virtual order session at this time to hand select your keepsakes. All final edits and designs will be completed within 1-3 weeks.

Your session fee includes the entire creative process of planning, designing & styling your session, our time in studio or on location, all post production and design work.
We know how important digital files are in this day & age so every session includes a selection of 20 digital files.

With JAC Photography, we believe there is nothing more valuable than the moments we share. My goal for every session is to provide tangible keepsake products that will exceed expectation and leave you with a heart bursting experience that the entire family will cherish for generations as you view your displays.
Once your session is complete, you will receive a sneak peek from your session within 48-72 hours. Then, within 2 weeks, I will hand-select the best images from your session and you'll have the option to select your favourite images and how you'd like to display them. You'll have the power to create your own custom collection or choose from our carefully curated packages.
We'll discuss the best locations to hang them, and what sizes and finishes will work best in your home. We carry many luxurious items from across the globe from stunning gallery-wrapped canvases to custom-made albums that showcase your experience.

We’re big believers that images aren’t meant to solely exist in a digital space. One day, your Instagram could be gone, your phone will be replaced and images that you can physically hold in your hand will be the best way to remember those precious moments we captured.
Think about this fact: fifteen years ago, if we had delivered you digital images, they would have been on a floppy disk. With the fast updates to technology, you would have no way to access those images today. Even the online galleries we deliver will eventually fade away.
But prints? Those last. I bet your family still has images from your grandparents (maybe even great grandparents.) And that was likely from a time period when cameras were expensive and prints were harder to come by. These are our most prized possessions that carry down through generations.

Prints are available a la carte or as part of your create-a-collection.
Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. If you do this, we recommend making sure that the printer does not color correct the images (many automatically do this.) We also recommend looking for a high quality printer. While 10 cent prints sound great in theory, the cheaper printing quality often won’t do your images justice. Paper quality, color correction and a handful of other factors play a big role in the way your prints turn out. This is one of the reasons why we LOVE offering prints to our clients.

Can I print the images on my own?

Absolutely! This is one of my favourite parts of the process! I provide all the outfits, wraps, and props for newborns.
For family sessions, I have a client closet of dresses, shoes and accessories for kids. I don’t insist client’s wear what I have because I want this art to go on YOUR walls and be a reflection of who YOU are! That said, it can be a daunting task to organize and coordinate the whole family and this is why I always send an interactive styling app with shopping links based on your home style, colour preferences and likes!
For Maternity, I have a small client closet but prefer to customize and bring in the outfits we need for each session so it is truly a catered and luxury experience for mamas to be. Together, we will create the most stunning looks in time for your session.

As soon as you are ready! We are ready when you are and recommend giving ample time when possible for coordinating outfits, travel, the best weather, etc!
For Maternity & newborn, once you are past 12 weeks you are safe to book your sessions, we generally schedule your maternity between 28-34 weeks. Booking at least 2-4 months in advance will ensure you secure your due date with us and allow us time to fully customize your session.

You are absolutely welcome to share the completed images on social media. To ensure that our work is properly represented, we ask that you refrain from any edits. We also appreciate image credits and tags as they help us to continue to grow as a business.

Can I share the images on social media?

By default, the creators of images always own the rights to the images. However we’ll give you a release to use, print and share your images. The only thing you won’t be able to do is sell your image as a stock photo. We won’t do this either without your written permission.

Do I own the rights to the images?

We typically plan about 90 to 120 minutes for sessions. While we likely don’t need to be shooting this entire time, this does give us the flexibility for outfit and location changes, rowdy kids and time to warm up. Newborn sessions are 3-4 hours.

How long should we plan for the session to take?

Definitely! Your gallery will be presented with a handful of fully edited images to give you an idea of the finished look while the rest are "Soft proofed".
Every image that you purchase and receive will be individually hand edited by me. I never send my images off to be bulk edited or batched with a preset.

I live in Sundance SE, Calgary which is where my home studio is located! I have photographed families and newborns across the country and USA! I am always up for adventure so if you have a destination in mind, let me know! We do have a varying travel fee.
